A winning climate solution for Cambridgeshire Football Association

Cambridgeshire Football Association undertook a refurbishment of its headquarters in Histon, Cambridge, to improve comfort, efficiency, and control across a multi-use facility. The building houses County FA offices, a gym, and serviced commercial office spaces, all requiring flexible, reliable climate control to suit varying occupancy and usage. REL MEP Ltd was appointed to replace the existing HVAC system with a modern Midea Heat Recovery VRF solution, delivering enhanced performance, energy efficiency, and long-term reliability.

As a refurbished building with diverse internal spaces, the Cambridgeshire FA site required a system capable of simultaneously heating and cooling different zones while maintaining occupant comfort and minimising disruption. REL MEP proposed a Midea VRF system designed to meet the building’s varied demands. The installation included a 40kW Midea V6R VRF and 15 roundflow cassettes, seamlessly integrated throughout the building. The system is controlled by one centralised controller and 13 individual wired controllers to provide precise temperature zone control for different areas of the building.

REL MEP secured the project following a competitive tender process, with their proposal standing out as the most comprehensive and competitive. The client’s board was particularly impressed by the level of preparation and clarity of the technical presentation, developed in collaboration with Midea’s technical team. This thorough and considered approach gave the client confidence in both the proposed solution and REL MEP’s capability to deliver it successfully.

The combination of competitive pricing, an extended warranty, detailed planning and strong technical expertise ultimately secured the project, providing Cambridgeshire Football Association with an efficient, flexible and reliable climate control solution that enhances comfort throughout the facility.
